About the Institution & Academics

The foundation of A.K.P Degree College Khurja, the first women’s college of district Bulandshahr committed to women’s education, was laid on August 12, 1966. A.K.P Degree College is continuously moving towards making girl students self-reliant by integrating the values of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and providing quality education and skills. The college is registered under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. The college’s vision is to transform human resources into human capital and to serve society as a centre of excellence in higher education.

The institution holds a leading position in Bulandshahr district as a single-faculty arts college. Under the foresight and leadership of the Principal, Prof. Dimpal Vij, the college has grown significantly. At present, about 900 girls are registered for graduation, post-graduation, and research in Hindi and Physical Education. The Hindi department currently has 10 research scholars, including 2 UGC SRFs and 2 JRFs.

In both postgraduate and undergraduate programs, the college has fully implemented NEP 2020 under a semester system with a credit-based structure, allowing students to pursue multidisciplinary education across multiple faculties and institutions.

Campus & Infrastructure

The college boasts a lush green campus spanning 3.1 acres with modern infrastructure. Facilities include smart classrooms, administrative offices, and specialized computer, psychology, and home science labs. Additional amenities feature a music room, open gym, indoor and outdoor sports areas, recreation room, medical room, girls’ common room, IIC cell, and skill centres.

The college maintains a rich library housing 23,321 books, journals, magazines, and newspapers in both English and Hindi. The library also features a Book Bank where study materials can be donated or loaned.

Skill Development & Collaborations

A pioneer in the district, the college offers 17 skill courses, 8 state-aided self-employment courses, and several value-added programs with industry internships under NEP 2020. Free coaching is provided for competitive exams including NET, JRF, IAS, PCS, NDA, and NEET.

The college has signed MOUs with various institutions and organizations, including Sleepwell Foundation, Sanskrit Bharti Meerut Province, Sun 19 Farms, D.N. P.G. College (Gulavati), I.I.M.T. College (Greater Noida), DPPS College (Anoopshahr), L.N.I.P. (Gwalior), State Fruit Preservation Department (Bulandshahr), Kissan PG College (Simbhawali), RSS PG College (Pilakhuwa), AKPG Hapur, C.G.C.R.I Khurja, and Confeb 360 for research workshops.

Vocational Training & Extension Activities

Since 2022, students have received SDRF training in Lucknow, with 3 batches completed to date. These trained students serve as Master Trainers across Bulandshahr district. Under the Rural Self Employment Scheme, free courses in beauty parlour, tailoring, artificial jewellery, and fast-food making are conducted. Students also undergo ceramic and pottery training at CSIR-C.G.C.R.I Khurja and 3D ceramic painting training via Contrive Ceramic Studio.

As an active participant in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (MHRD), the college adopted 5 villages in the Khurja block for socio-economic and health upliftment. It also serves as a centre for UNICEF’s Muskurayega India Wellness Campaign for mental health counselling and collaborates with U.P. Police for experiential learning programs. The college runs two NSS units and two Rover Ranger units.

Entrepreneurship & Student Empowerment

Through Empower Foundation under Project ‘Unnati’ (SIDBI), the college ran an entrepreneurship development program. In 2025 alone, 18 businesses were launched by students and trained local women spanning tailoring, beauty services, ceramics, artificial jewellery, and food production.

The college takes pride in its alumni serving as IPS officers, professors, government officials, and entrepreneurs. Co-curricular events like Yuva Mahotsav and Sanskrit Saptah are organized regularly to support holistic development.
